Compensation: $100,000 to $115,000 per year
Job Summary:
The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of residential properties. The ideal candidate understands real estate accounting practices and collaborates with property management and leadership teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Manage the accounting functions for a portfolio of residential properties, including apartments and single-family
homes.
● Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
● Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, tenant billings, and rent collections.
● Maintain accurate general ledgers, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
● Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
● Prepare and reconcile tenant statements.
● Assist outside tax accountants with year end tax filings.
● Partner with property managers to provide financial insights and ensure accuracy of reporting.
● Work with maintenance team to ensure accuracy of inventory.
● Implement new processes and technologies to ensure accuracy and drive efficiency.
● Assist with projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
● 5+ years of accounting experience; real estate or property management industry experience strongly preferred.
● Experience with real estate accounting systems (AppFolio or Yardi) required.
● Supervisory experience a plus.
● Solid understanding of GAAP and property-level financial reporting.
● Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
● Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
